The Majorly Personal Meme, Part One

Welcome back to Sunday Stealing. Sunday Stealing originated on WTIT: The Blog authored by Bud Weiser. Here we will steal all types of memes from every corner of the blogosphere. Our promise to you is that we will work hard to find the most interesting and intelligent memes. You may have heard of the expression, “honor amongst thieves”. In that age-old tradition, we also have our rules. First, we always credit the blog that we stole it from and we will “fess up” to the blog owner where we stole the meme. We also provide a link to the victim's post. (It's our way of saying "Thanks!") We do sometimes edit the original meme, usually to make it more relevant to our global players, to challenge our players, sometimes to select that meme's best questions, or simply to make it less repetitive from either this new meme or recently asked questions from a prior featured meme. Let's go!!

Today we ripped this meme off a blog that is written by a group of high school students. The blog is called Eternal Fireworks. The writers are: Michael, Kynan, Alex, Kenny, Chris, Leo, Shelley, Athy, Bam, Tina, Bnita, and Athy (yes there are two). There is no statement as to where it came from. But, it was probably stolen there as well. So, of course, that will be as far as we go. Tracing back our theft's thieves might take some time. It is a long meme and we shall do it in parts. Link back to us at Sunday Stealing!

The Woodrow Wilson Teaching Fellowship

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Woodrow Wilson. All opinions are 100% mine.

I always wanted to become a teacher someday, but due to the love I have for my family, I decided to set it aside and pursue my dream later. On the other hand, my husband plans to change his career for the field of his industry is not very stable; in fact he already got laid off from job twice in one year. My husband had already earned a bachelors degree and an associate degree, but both are not related in to teaching. And so, he wants to go back to school to get degree in teacher education. He is not just sure yet which school to attend.

Good thing there is a program that helps and encourages those who want to become teacher just like my husband. Woodrow Wilson Teaching fellowship encourages and helps these prospective teachers to work in the classroom where they are needed. The program also prepares, mentors future teachers through schooling on top of offering a $30,000 stipend for those who want to change their career just like my husband and also those who are recent graduates of Math, Technology, Engineering and Science fields. If you are interested, there are 14 participating universities you can choose from in order to complete the Master's program. To qualify, you must have completed an undergraduate in one of the related fields mentioned here by June of 2011 and have at least 3.0 GPA with great commitment to the program and its goal.

After you enrolled in the program, you need to complete teacher field-based master's degree in teacher education. You also need to teach in a high-need school for three years. Part of the program is you will also be provided with support as well as mentors in the classroom as you teach. Whichever program you enrolled in is where you would complete your Master's degree and be teaching the minimum of 3 years following your graduation. The Woodrow Wilson Teaching Fellowships seeks to recruit, prepare and retain effective teachers for the students and schools who need them most. Quick Tips

To crisp up cucumber and remove excess water, use salt and ice water. Sprinkle with salt, place on a bag of ice water for several hour, and drain water.

Cucumbers are approximately 96 percent water so removing some of the excess water will help give them a crisp texture. Sprinkle the cucumbers with a little salt. Fill a sealable bag half full of ice; then fill the remainder with water and seal tightly. Place the ice bag in a strainer, put the cucumbers on top, and then set the strainer in a bowl to catch the water as it drains off. Store in the refrigerator for a couple of hours; pat dry and use in your favorite dish or salad.

McDonalds, Best Fries in San Francisco Area

I read a blog talking about french fries at McDonald as the San Francisco bay area's fave. How could that be?

This artificially flavored, fried “potato products” – seasoning created in a fragrance factory in Jersey, containing beef by product of some (secret formula) kind – is San Francisco’s favorite french fry. Which means it is not real food. They even developed a multi-million dollar pheromone-chemical that they spray on all their foods such as burgers, salads, french fries and even milkshakes. French fries potato is a product. The worst part, it tricks your metabolism into requiring it to feel full. McDonalds uses a much thicker oil than in Nout… and their fries come pre-"breaded" frozen.

This is good to know and will help those who love to eat at fastf ood resto such as McDonalds. My family loves sweet potato fries better and they wouldn't eat potato french fries even the homemade one. You can buy it frozen or make it yourself, that way you know it is healthy and that you are eating fresh and real foods :-)

Our Family Business is Food

Guest post written by Robin Sparks

I eat, breath and sleep the diner that my family owns and I work at. But I don’t think that’s necessarily a bad thing. I’ve just spent so much time there working that it’s almost like a member of our family.

I’ve never really had the memory or attention span to be a waitress, so I mostly take phone calls for take-out take out orders. I man the phones so much that I sometimes even recognize our customers’ voices as soon as I pick up the phone. That might help us in service, but that’s really just out of habit for doing the job for so long.

However, I noticed I was having a harder time hearing the orders of customers and went and got a hearing test to see if it was me or our old phone. It ended up being me and I got a hearing aid as a result.

None of the customers have said anything differently. I don’t know if they can tell or not but my brothers, who cooks in the restaurant, said he’s glad he doesn’t have to hear me say “huh” and “what” all the time to the customers now.

Fitness, Exercise, Workout Videos @ iNetVideo.com

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of iNetVideo.com. All opinions are 100% mine.

As the saying goes; Health is Wealth. And I agree with it. Staying healthy and in shape is very important to me and I am sure to everybody as well. Being healthy means....being able to do the very important things in our lives. For instance, if you are sick or not physically fit, how are you going to work, go to school, perform tasks that only you can and will do. To me being healthy also means taking care of my health for the sake of those who needs me and my help...like my husband and son, parents, siblings, friends and my duty to God.

Hubby and I are both struggling to lose weight. And so we talked about it and decided to do something with it. We have a treadmill at home and there is no reason why we can't do some cardio. We can walk, jog, run rain or shine in the comfort of our home. We also bought step tool for aerobics as well as exercise ball. Now, it is time for us to buy some fitness DVDs from iNetVideo.com. Why this website? I found out that this website has huge selection of workouts and instructors videos. From yoga, pilates, aerobics etc), they've got you covered. I like that hey carry hundreds of titles at low prices.

As I browse at iNetVideo.com, I noticed that they have videos of my favorite fitness instructors such as Nancy Marmorat for low impact aerobics, Kathy Smith for cardio fat burner and Denise Austin for burn fats fast.

Obviously, if I were to choice a workout...among yoga, pilates and aerobics....the last would be my choice :-). I am sure hubby and I will sure lose weight in less than a year. Of course, we need to couple it with diet. I have done this before and it really worked. Plus aerobics is better and faster way when it comes to fat burner and losing weight.

Bitter Gourd/Melon (Ampalaya) and Bottle Gourd (Opo)

A friend of mine gave me tons of vegetables that was given to her by a co worker who has garden in his backyard. I really like the better gourd (ampalaya) and the Opo. Last night I finally got the time to cook them. I put bitter melon/gourd in my Paksiw na Bangus while I sauteed the Opo which is one of my hubby's favorite Filipino foods :-).

Bitter Melon or Momordica charantia is a tropical and subtropical vine of the family Cucurbitaceae, widely grown for edible fruit, which is among the most bitter of all fruits. Names for the plant and its fruit include bitter melon, bitter gourd (translated from Chinese: 苦瓜; pinyin: kǔguā), goya (ゴーヤー?) from an Okinawan language or Karela/Karella in India, ampalayácerasee[1] (Caribbean and South America; also spelled cerasse) and Opo from Tagalog. The original home of the species is not known, other than that it is a native of the tropics. It is widely grown in India and other parts of the Indian subcontinent, Southeast Asia, China, Africa, and the Caribbean.

On the other hand, The calabash or bottle gourd or opo squash (not to be confused with the calabaza) is a vine grown for its fruit, which can either be harvested young and used as a vegetable or harvested mature, dried, and used as a bottle, utensil, or pipe. For this reason, one of the calabash subspecies is known as the bottle gourd. The fresh fruit has a light green smooth skin and a white flesh. However the rounder varieties are called Calabash gourds whereas the longer and slimmer kinds are usually well known as bottle gourds. The calabash was one of the first cultivated plants in the world, grown not for food but as a container. It was named for the calabash tree (Crescentia cujete).

FTF: My Own Version of Bulalo

I have been hearing a lot about "Bullo" and how yummy it was. To tell you, I never tried this dish before and so after searching it on the internet, I realized that the cooking process is very similar to "Nilagang Baka." The only difference is that the meat and veggies you use. Okay, Bulalo uses only Bokchoy and Cabbage, while the Nilaga uses potato, carrots, green or string beans and cabbage or Bockchoy. So I made some the other night using beef short ribs for meat. Here it is....I used all veggies for Bulalo and Nilaga except green or string beans for I ran out of it :-).

Our Next Year's Summer Getaway

The other day, my sister in-law sent me a message on my FaceBook inviting us over for a summer vacation at the beach. How nice of her to invite us ahead of time. The invitation by the way would be for next year's summer. She hasn't told me yet which beach they would like to go. Since that would be a year from now, I was thinking that we go to Myrtle Beach, North Carolina. We have a year to save for this summer getaway. I hope they will think about it. I choose this place because we have been there ourselves and we liked it.

If they agreed, it would be nice to stay in one of the great condominiuml there which is the towers at myrtle beach. I have been reading online about this online and was amazed with their relaxing and impressive amenities, affordable price, and detailed accommodations not to mention the breathtaking pictures – window views. I really like the thought of staying in one of affordable units they offer. They have units for everyone from 1 to 2 bedroom to 3 bedroom condominium where each has a private balcony. This place is good for couples, singles, and family group (which is perfect for us). Indeed myrtle beach is a place where everyone will have fun and enjoy every minute of stay there. I couldn't wait for our vacation with my in-laws next year!
